DDG (Fisheries Science) inaugurated Re-circulatory system facility at ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore

Dr. J.K. Jena, DDG (Fisheries Science), ICAR, New Delhi inaugurated Re-circulatory System (RS) at ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore in the presence of Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Prof. S. N. Labh, Department of Zoology, Tribhuvan University, Thamel, Kathmandu, Nepal, Dr .A .K . Sahoo, In-charge, Hatchery & Aquarium unit and other scientific and administrative staff members of ICAR-CIFRI, on the occasion of 29th All India Congress of Zoology (29th AICZ) and International symposium on "Culture Based Fisheries in Inland Open Waters" and a Satellite Symposium on "Fish Immunology" at ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore during 9th to 11th June 2017.

The RS consists of ten circular tanks of 5000lt capacity each, with supporting accessories of Rapid sand filter, Biofilter, UV sterilization, Ozoniser and Air pumps. The re-circulatory system facility will serve to breed and culture of indigenous riverine and wetland fish species, as an alternative and as a part of conservational measures for endangered and threatened fish species.
