ICAR-CIFRI organizes short term training programmes for Bihar Farmers on "Inland Fisheries Management"

A short-term training programme of 7 days duration on Inland Fisheries Management for the farmers from Gopalganj District, Bihar has been inaugurated today (4th August, 2016) by Dr. B.K. Das, Director, CIFRI at ICAR-CIFRI Headquarters, Barrackpore. A total of 25 farmers from Gopalganj District, Bihar have been participated in the programme. The module of the training programme for the framers of Gopalganj District is developed after assessing the training need of the farmers. As in Gopalganj district the total wetland area is 10490 ha including rivers/streams, natural waterlogged area, small water bodies, tanks etc so, there is ample scope to improve the livelihoods of the people through building of the capacity in inland fisheries management. The programme is targeted to strengthen the practical skill of the farmers for enhancing the fish production in open waters viz. maun, chaur, ponds, tanks etc. through practicals, field exposure visits, demonstrations and class room sessions. In current financial year, ICAR-CIFRI has already imparted training to 107 farmers from four districts of Bihar, viz. Muzaffarpur, Motihar, Bettiah , Vaishali. These training programmes are coordinated by Extension and Training Cell, CIFRI.
