Multiple fisheries development activities in tribal area of Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh organized by ICAR-CIFRI
Farm inputs were distributed to the tribal farmers after receiving feedback and successful completion of training/ awareness program with the objective to enhance their livelihood. Quality fish seed in the form of Indian major carp and exotic carp fingerlings (around 235 kg) was distributed to 47 progressive tribal fish farmers and stocked in their ponds. The body weight of the fingerlings at the time of stocking varied from 5.0 to 15.0 g. The fish seed was distributed for partial stocking of 5.6 ha area (pond size 0.08-0.9 ha). Fish feed (12.0 quintals, comprising mustard oil cake and rice bran in the ratio of 1:1) was also distributed to forty farmers (30 kg /farmers). The beneficiaries were from tribal villages of Ramnagar, Beladandi, Kajaria, Dhuskiya, Pachpeda, Muhnochani, Balera, Parsia, Puraina, ChhediyaPurv, Chhediya Paschim, Chandan Chouki, Najhauta in and around Chandan Chouki area, Paliya tehsil, Lakhimpur-Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh.
A team comprising Dr. D.N. Jha, Mr. Jeetendra Kumar, Mr. S.K. Srivastava, Mr. A.C. Biswas and other members participated in the program. About 60 participants comprising farmers and fishers attended the awareness program and benefited from input distribution.
