ICAR-CIFRI's Drive towards Swachhata Abhiyan at adopted villages under MGMG programme
A cleanliness campaign was conducted under Mera Gaon Mera Gourav programme by ICAR-CIFRI at village Saibana, Barasat Block-I, 24 Parganas (N) on 5th October, 2016. This village is dominated by Muslim community and agriculture and allied activities is the major economic activity. The team of CIFRI provides information, knowledge and advisories on regular basis to the farmers of the village to hasten the lab to land process. In the sensitization programme Dr. B.K Das, Director, CIFRI interacts with the fishers and farmers and discussed their problems. He also sensitizes the villagers about 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.' Krishi Prayukti Sahayak from line department, Govt. of West Bengal also participated in the interactive session related to crop specific problem solving. Dr. A.K Das, Principal scientist and Dr. Aparna Roy, Scientist, CIFRI conducted a special session for the children and their parents to sensitized them about the initiatives taken by the Government of India regarding 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. A cleanliness rally was organized to generate awareness among the villagers. Some inputs like belching powder, hand washes were distributed among the farmers for making the Swachhta Campaign more effective. In fact, it was an initiative to imbibe the thought of 'Swachh Bharat' under Mera Gaon Mera Gourav programme.
