A total of eighty seven fishers/fish farmers from three districts of Bihar State viz. Khagaria, Sheohar and Begusarai were trained on Inland Fisheries Management during September, 2017. The training schedule was developed after assessing needs of the trainees. These three districts are blessed with vast water resources like mauns and chaurs, perennial and seasonal ponds, derelict water bodies, canals etc. These provide ample scope of livelihood improvement through scientific management of the resources . The fishers/fish farmers of were trained on various aspects of inland fisheries including feeding management, ornamental fisheries development, disease management etc. through 12 theory classes, three practical classes and field exposure visits. Three field exposure visits were conducted for the trainees for better understanding of inland fisheries management and development. Hands on sessions were also arranged to develop the skills of the trainees . Feedback from them indicates that 84% them are highly satisfied with the training programs. The trainings were coordinated by Dr. A.K Das, Mr. Ganesh Chandra, Dr. Aparna Roy, Mr. P. Mishal, Mr. Shravan Kumar Sharma under the guidance of Dr. B.K Das, Director, CAR-CIFRI .
