Director, CIFRI addressed the farmers from Dhenkanal, Odisha

Dhenkanal District, Odisha is surrounded by beautiful wild lives and forests and people of district are dependent on agriculture and fisheries for their livelihood. As per Annual Action plan -2018-19 under NHM of Govt. of Odisha, a group of 85 progressive farmers visited ICAR-CIFRI on 15 th February to have an exposure on ‘inland fisheries management’ for production enhancement. Dr. B.K Das, Director, CIFRI addressed the farmers and gave an overview on the various research and activities of ICAR-CIFRI. He also gave an orientation on fisheries enhancement in small reservoirs and check dams. Dr. Archana Sinha, PS imparted knowledge on inland ornamental fisheries for doubling farmers’ income. Labs, ornamental hatchery and re- circulatory systems of ICAR-CIFRI were also visited by the farmers. This exposure visit was aimed to bring desirable change in the knowledge and attitude of the progressive farmers. Dr. Aparna Roy, Scientist, E & T Cell, CIFRI coordinated the Training-cum-exposure visit of the progressive farmers from Dhenkanal, Odisha.
