ICAR-CIFRI stocked Fingerlings in FLD programmeon “Penculture demonstration” at DumnidahaBeel, Murshidabad under SCSP

ICAR- CFRI has adopted DumnidahaBeelof Murshidabad, West Bengal during the year 2020-21 for fish production enhancement through pen culture in collaboration with Dhannyaganga Krishi Vigyan Kendra, RKMA, Sargachhi under SCSP. Under the leadership of Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI the fishermen of Dumindahawere motivated for insitu raising of fish seeds in the pen as the stocking material for the wetland. The water body is being managed by Andiron fishermen Co-Operative Society. The society comprises of 94 number of Fishermen& all of them belong to Schedule Caste community. A MoU has been signed between the Andiron fishermenPFCS of the beel and ICAR-CIFRI for the technical support from the institute and Dhannyaganga Krishi Vigyan Kendra as the local facilitator. On 1st December 2021, 200 Kg of fingerling were stocked in Pens of DumnidahaBeel under technical guidance & financial support from the SCSPprogramme of ICAR-CIFRI. The cooperative has also received one FRP boat, two FRP coracles.Similar activity was also demonstrated during 2019-20in which the fishermen were benefitted immensely. The program was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Kolkata. Dr. P. K. Parida, nodal officer of SCSP project coordinated the program with the support of Mr. Uday Narayan Das, SMS (Fishery Sc.) of Dhaanyaganga KVK.
