Twenty six active fish farmers participated in this programme. Inaugurating the programme, Dr. B.K. Das, Director of the Institute invoked the trainee farmers for their knowledge and skill up-gradation on various aspects of inland fisheries management ensuring their sustainable livelihood. All fishers should explore their available resources for optimum productions and productivity by gaining scientific knowledge and its applications- reiterated Dr Das. He also elaborated the trainees about the new entrepreneurship avenues available in inland fisheries of India .
Livelihood improvement through development of inland fisheries in this district is enormous. This training programme has been aimed at bridging the knowledge, skill, and attitude gaps of the farmers towards inland fisheries management. The programme included classroom sessions on pond construction and management, soil and water chemistry, induced breeding, nursery, rearing and brooder’s pond management, composite fish farming, ornamental fishery, enclosure culture, fish feed management and feeding protocol, disease management, economic evaluation, overview on Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojona, etc. Besides, documentaries on ICAR-CIFRI technologies have been exposed to the trainees.
