76th Independence Day “Har Ghar Tiranga” Celebrated at ICAR-CIFRI

ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore celebrated 76th Independence Day on 15 August 2022 with great fervour. As part of Aazaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was launched from 13-15 August at Institute headquarters Barrackpore, Kolkata and all the regional centres.
The Independence Day celebration initiated with the march past by the members of security staffs from the Director's residence to the main building of the institute. The National Flag was hoisted by Dr. Basanta Kumar Das, Director in the grand event. Officers, staff members, research scholars were gathered along with their family members for 76th Independence day celebration.
The Director, ICAR-CIFRI, in his address greeted and congratulated all the members of ICAR-CIFRI family on the occasion of 76th anniversary of Indian independence and completion of Amrit mahotsav. He emphasised that as part of “Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Indian Tricolour was hoisted by all the citizens of India at their houses from 13-15 August 2022. He thanked all CIFRIANS for contributing to the nation cause despite of the difficult bCOVID-19 pandemic situation.

The Director highlighted the special accomplishments achieved by the institute in last one year. The institute received Agri-Food Empowering India Awards 2021 as a recognition for excellence in Research & Development in agri-food and its remarkable contribution to the food sector. He emphasized livelihood improvement of fishermen communities through SCSP and TSP in the states of Manipur, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chattisgarh and West Bengal.
He also added that in last five years four technologies have been commercialized and accepted in different agro-climatic condition. The Commercialisation process of our new technology CIFRI Circular Cage have been initiated. He also stressed on waste to wealth technologies i.e. BSF based floating feed and also the feed developed from silk worm pupae. He asked all the CIFRIANS to contribute 100% for achieving greater success of ICAR-CIFRI and national building.

The Institute observed Har Ghar Tiranga campaign at Headquarter, Barrackpore Kolkata and it's Regional Centers from13-15 August 2022. On 13 August Prabhat Pheri and various awareness programs was organised. All the Officers and staff members of Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute hoisted National flag at residences as part of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign on 13 August to 15 August. On 14 August, Fit India Freedom Run from Instite to Mangal Pandey Park in Barrackpore, Kolkata. CIFRI Regional Centre, Guwahati organised with fisherman community of Deepor beel flag hoisting ceremony and awareness programme at Deeepor beel, Assam. Other regional centres also participated in creating awareness.
