Empowering tribal women of Jharkhand through ornamental fish culture

Empowering women through ornamental fish culture has been made involving 30 tribal women beneficiaries of Simdega district, Jharkhand, a down trodden district of the State with distribution of one 400 L tank each, ornamental fish culture kit comprising one thermostat, hand bet, one kg feed, aerator, suction cleaning pipe, aeration accessories, disease control chemical etc and ornamental fish to be grown further utilizing these supports. Director Dr B K Das took lead role in demonstrating through hand holding processes how to make wise use of these materials including how to grow such species in their backyard areas to those women beneficiaries. The beneficiaries were imbibed by words of wisdom for knowledge strengthening as well as capacity building by the Director.

Smt Kushum Lata, DFO, Simdega also took part in this distribution spree with taking appropriate measures as to make these activities sustainable which will be of immense help in economical empowerment of these tribal women of Simdega. They will be trained at ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore during end of November, 2022 for hands on training so as to carry forward their ornamental fish culture activities in the long run.
