Director visits Guwahati Regional Centre of ICAR-CIFRI during April 20-21, 2023

Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore, Kolkata visited the ICAR-CIFRI Regional Centre, Guwahati during April 20-21, 2023 for reviewing the activities of the Centre. Dr. B.K. Bhattacharjya, Head (Acting) of the Centre welcomed the Director. All scientists, two technical, two administrative and two young professional of the Centre were present in the meeting. In addition, Dr. A.K. Das, Head (In-charge), Reservoir and Wetland Fisheries Division,ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore was also present in the meeting.

The Director passed on DG’s message and impressed upon all the scientists that they have to work towards developing a product, patent, technology or research paper of high impact factor. He suggested the senior scientists to write external project proposals.

He asked all the scientists to prepare final reports/ leaflets/ fliers of already completed research projects/ activities especially with regard to cage and pen culture in various waterbodies and livelihood development work carried out by the Institute in NER. The Director urged all the researchers of the Centre to carry out new research activities and prepare abstracts for Indian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum 2024 to be held at Barrackpore, Kolkata and Indian Science Congress 2024 to be held at Lucknow. He visited various labs and facilities of the Centre and suggested remodeling of certain labs.
