State-Level Workshop on VKSA (Rabi) hosted by ICAR-CIFRI

A State-Level workshop on Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) for Rabi Season Campaign was organised today at ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore. VKSA is a nationwide initiative dedicated to shape the future of Indian agriculture and empower our farmers towards the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.” The Government of India has envisaged Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan as a mission to strengthen agricultural policies, enhance productivity, ensure farmers’ prosperity, and promote sustainable farming practices.
The aim of the workshop was to create a platform to discuss strategies and align action plans of the Rabi Season Campaign for West Bengal with the national vision.
The workshop was chaired by Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI and Nodal Officer of the Rabi Season Campaign for West Bengal. Dr. Pradip Kumar Dey, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, and Dr. D. B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, co-chaired the Workshop. Representatives from twelve ICAR institutes, two SAUs, three KVKs, including ATARI, Kolkata; NINFET, Kolkata; CRIJAF, Barrackpore; NBSSLUP, Kolkata; ERS IVRI, Kolkata; ERS NDRI, Kalyani; CSSRI, Canning; CMFRI, Digha, CIFA, Rahara; CIBA, Kakdwip; CIFE, Kolkata; NIRCA-RS, Dinhata; Bidhan Chandra Krishi Visvavidyalaya; West Bengal University of Animal & Fisheries Science; CHIS-KVK, Malda; CRIJAF-KVK; KVK-Visva participated in the workshop.
Dr. B.K. Das, Director, CIFRI, presented the lessons learnt by ICAR-CIFRI in the pre-kharif campaign. Dr. D.B. Sakyabar, Director, NINFET, shared the key learnings from the VKSA pre-kharif season. All the institutes shared their experiences in VKSA. Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ATARI, who was instrumental for the success of VKSA in the Pre-Kharif season in West Bengal, Odisha and Andaman & Nicobar in the successful campaign, emphasized the role of science-led growth in agriculture, underlined the importance of translating research into field-level applications through Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and farmer-centric innovations. In the interactive session, the participating institutions provided valuable ground-level insights on challenges and opportunities regarding conducting the VKSA.
The deliberations and recommendations from the State-Level workshop of VKSA will contribute to formulate a comprehensive state action plan aligned with the national objectives of Viksit Bharat @2047.
