Interactive meeting with Dr. Mohammad Muslem Uddin, Professor, Department of Oceanography, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, at ICAR-CIFRI, Kochi, Kerala

An interactive meeting with Dr. Mohammad Muslem Uddin was held on 14 November 2025, at ICAR-CIFRI, Kochi. Dr. Thankam Theresa Paul, Senior Scientist and Mrs. Tanuja Abdulla, Scientist, briefed him on the activities of the centre and the institute, including the research initiatives related to the country's riverine, reservoir, floodplain, and estuarine systems.
Dr. Uddin showed particular interest in the institute's work on climate change, cage and pen culture technologies, and its developmental and outreach activities. He highlighted the need for collaboration on Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) and various fishery enhancement technologies.
The meeting also featured an online interaction with Dr. L. N. Murthy, Head of the Regional Centre (HORC) in Bengaluru, who provided a historical overview of inland fisheries in the peninsular region. Collaborative opportunities and networking in inland fisheries with Bangladesh were also discussed. Dr. Thankam Theresa Paul and Mrs. Tanuja Abdulla successfully coordinated the entire visit.
