Agricultural Education Day-2021

Commemorating Birth Anniversary of the First President of India and Bharat Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ji on 03 Dec, every Year, ICAR & its Institutions, Universities, KVKs, Colleges have been fervently observing this day across India. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ji took birth in1884 on 03 December, an ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi Ji, who was the first Agril. Union Minister of India in 1946 and who was the First President of India (1950-62) with longest tenural service to the Nation. He was the maker of Atmanirbhar Bharat rebuilding restructuring Agriculture lifting it to a new height. He was conferred Bharat Ratna in 1962 to pay homage to his outstanding contribution for this sector The main aim of observing Agricultural Education Day is to imbibe and motivate students, youths towards the growth and development of agriculture in India ; ARYA-Attracting & Retaining Youth in Agriculture, a flamboyant scheme launched by GoI, Mins. of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is very befitting towards observing this day. Application of ICT has smothered the research, training and extension reaching to unreached in a more pragmatic way with smart Classes, Webinar, mobile apps, e-courses, c-contents, e-resources, Multimedia labs, Video-conferencing, Tele-conferencing with latest introduction to Drone-based Technology strengthening Agricultural Education in a more prudent manner. Young generation must be given need-based training on various facets of agriculture and then only the observance of this day would be fulfilled.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI stretched upon the need of agricultural scientists to be associated with farmers in resolving their problems faced by them in their day to day life arising out of their farming practices. He invoked the students to come forward to be a part of present day agriculture and to derive sustenance by sharing knowledge with farmers and in turn keep them abridged with modern agricultural practices equipped with technological gadgets.
Remarks by all HoDs of the Institute made the program more pertinent towards generating enthusiasms amongst the participated trainee farmers from Muzaffarpur, Bihar as well as the students, research scholars of the Institute. A presentation on Relevance of observing Agricultural Education Day towards sustainable livelihood has been made by Dr. A. K. Das, In-charge, Training & Extension Unit of the Institute attracted the audience with interactions. The program was culminated with the National Anthem.
